A near-silent Brewer offseason carried on through the weekend, causing this Tweet to catch my eye:

The Brewers' lack of offseason action to this point has some wondering if they might be better off taking this team apart and rebuilding for future years. badgernoonan of Ron Roenicke Stole My Baseball has the counter to that argument.

If the Brewers are actually planning on attempting to win in 2013, they probably still need to find some help from outside the organization. This morning Benjamin Orr of Reviewing the Brew and Tom Stadler of The Book of Gorman have some free agent advice.

Meanwhile, a couple of members of the 2012 Brewers are still available on the free agent market. You can read more about them in MLB Daily Dish's free agent tracker.

Speaking of 2012, Jeff Sullivan of FanGraphs has a look at the slowest pitches hit for home runs last season. Corey Hart, Randy Wolf and (perhaps least surprisingly) Livan Hernandez are prominently featured.

There was nothing slow about this one: on Friday we looked at Rickie Weeks' 443 foot blast against the Nationals on July 29, the sixth longest home run hit by a Brewer in 2012.

This memory isn't quite as fun: Amanda Orr of Phillies Nation listed Philadelphia's come-from-behind series win against the Brewers in July as the team's fourth best moment last season.

In the minors:

• Martin Maldonado started both halves (one game at catcher, one at DH) as Mayaguez split two seven inning games with Manati in Puerto Rico yesterday. You can read about that and more in today's Winter League Recap.
• MLB Prospect Guide has a look at the Brewers' top 25 players under 25 years old, and has Scooter Gennett ahead of Jean Segura for #1.
• @Mass_Haas reports that longtime Brewer minor leaguer and former top prospect Amaury Rivas has signed with the Marlins as a free agent.

Around baseball this morning the top story is a Mets/Blue Jays proposed trade that could send R.A. Dickey to Toronto if the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner can reach a deal on a contract extension with his new team before Tuesday.

Phillies: Signed reliever Mike Adams (two years, $12 million) and pitcher John Lannan (one year, $2.5 million) and claimed pitcher Mauricio Robles off waivers from the Mariners.
Red Sox: Signed shortstop Stephen Drew to a one-year, $9.5 million deal.
Reds: Hired Ronnie Ortegon as their new assistant hitting coach.
Royals: Signed outfielder Xavier Nady to a minor league deal.
Twins: Signed pitcher Mike Pelfrey to a one-year, $4 million deal.
Yankees: Designated pitcher Josh Spence for assignment.

In former Brewers: MASN is reporting that Dana Eveland will pitch for Hanwha in Korea this season.
