Brewers 5, Rockies 4: Winning Despite a Rocky Finish

Punching catchers in spring training is probably frowned upon, bub.

Win: Yovani Gallardo (1-0)
Loss: Alex White (0-1)
Save: Mike McClendon (1)

HR: None

There were literally no offensive standouts for Milwaukee in this game. A bunch of players had one hit. Several scored one run. A few drove in one run. Rickie Weeks and Brooks Conrad each hit a double. Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy each stole a base.

Yovani Gallardo is starting to stretch out more as he pitched 3.1 innings and allowed three baserunners while striking out two hitters. Marco Estrada, who may be making one spot start for Shaun Marcum at the beginning of real baseball, also pitched three innings and allowed two baserunners and struck out three men. So I guess for a day Marco Estrarda can say he was better than Yovani Gallardo.

Jose Veras pitched a good inning.

The Brewers had a nice, comfortable lead in the ninth inning before Taylor Jungmann and almost screwed everything up. Jungmann's outing went like this:

HBP
Double (run scores)
Pop out
Single (run scores)
strikeout
Double (run scores)
Single (run scores)
Walk

And then he was taken out of the game. Mike McClendon struck out Nolan Arenado for the final out and the save.

So yay.

I want real baseball.
