It was another rough day for the Brewers offense.
The Brewers got on the board early with a double from Mat Gamel and an RBI single from Jonathan Lucroy in the second inning. The Angels followed it up with a three-run second inning to take a lead that they would not relinquish. They added on with one run in the seventh and four runs in the eighth.
Michael Fiers continued to struggle, as he allowed runs for his fourth straight spring appearance. In three innings today, he allowed three runs on three hits, walking one and striking out two. John Axford and Francisco Rodriguez pitched the next two innings and each threw a scoreless inning, allowing one hit each. Mark Rogers followed them with two innings, allowing a run on two hits. Santo Manzanillo fell apart in the eighth, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk.
The Brewers could not take advantage of their opportunities today. The Angels committed two errors and the Brewers had runners in scoring position in the second, sixth, seventh, eighth innings, and ninth innings. However, the Brewers were 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight on base as a team.
Jonathan Lucroy continued his hot spring with a 1 for 2 day, the one hit an RBI single.
Ryan Braun's cold spring continued as he went 0 for 2 on the day, but did draw a walk. Alex Gonzalez cooled off a little as well with a 0 for 3 day, also leaving five on base.
