Recaps written long after a game is over are one of my biggest internet pet peeves, so I'll do my best to keep this one short. To the bullet points!
- Zack Greinke was excellent today. He pitched 5.1 shutout innings with just two hits, struck out nine batters and didn't walk anyone. His ERA is now 0.73 this spring and he's struck out 20 in 12.1 innings (14.9 per nine innings).
- Ryan Braun had a hit (doubling his spring total) and a walk today, and scored a run as the Brewers rallied to take a 2-0 lead in the fourth.
- The Angels came back against John Axford, who allowed four unearned runs in the seventh after back-to-back errors by Nyjer Morgan and Taylor Green. Francisco Rodriguez allowed two more runs in the eighth.
- Norichika Aoki walked in his only plate appearance, then stole second and third.
- The game was played in front of 9,561 fans, which is a huge crowd for Maryvale.
The Brewers have now lost eleven games this spring, equaling their total from all of Cactus League play in 2011. They'll get a chance to get back on the right track when they host the White Sox tomorrow.
