Brewers Ride Six-Run Fifth To 7-1 Win Over Diamondbacks

W: Zack Greinke (1-0)
L: Wade Miley (1-1)

HR: Jonathan Lucroy (2)

Today was an encouraging day.

The game was tied at one going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Brewers blew it open by scoring six runs on nine hits and a walk in the frame. Every Brewer in the lineup had a hit in the inning, including a Zack Greinke RBI double and a two-run home run for Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy finished the day a triple short of the cycle and drove in three runs.

Seven runs were much more than Zack Greinke would need. He allowed a run on a triple and a ground out in the first but settled down after that and allowed just the one run on five hits over seven innings. He struck out eight today and has now mowed down 23 batters in 19.1 innings of work this spring, while allowing just two runs. He'll get one more spring start before pitching the regular season's second game on April 7.

The Brewers have now won four of their last five games to improve to 11-13-2 this spring. They'll host the Reds in Maryvale tomorrow, with Randy Wolf taking on Aroldis Chapman at 3:05.
