Prognostikeggers 2012: The Spring Training Challenge

Just like Zack Greinke needs to warm up for the regular season, you need time to warm up for the regular season of Prognostikeggers. Welcome to Prognostikeggers Spring Training.

Welcome to the Spring Training version of Prognostikeggers!

Just like the Brewers players need to get in shape for the regular season, you also need to prediction skills in shape for the regular season. With that, we have a scaled back version of Prognostikeggers to help you get in shape. It's not as intensive as the regular season, but it should still be plenty of fun.

For the Spring Training games, updates will be made on a regular basis. For the first week, we'll have one more update on Thursday. Future weeks will have updates on Monday and Friday through Spring Training (unless the update is on a scheduled off day for the Brewers, then it will be moved back a day). We will have weekly winners, as well as a winner for Spring Training overall.

The rules for the Spring Training version of Prognostikeggers are shown below the jump. After checking them out, get your predictions in for the first set of Spring Training games.

(SS is a split-squad, and is designated next to a team that is playing with a split-squad.)

Scoring Summary

Rules for Prognostikeggers

For Spring Training, here are the predictions you need to make:

Attendance - Predict the attendance of the game. Predictions within 500 (increased from 250 for week 1) of the actual attendance will get 2 points. (The threshold may be adjusted based on how the first few games go.)

Line Score - Predict the Brewers runs, hits, and errors for the game. Correct predictions of runs and hits will get 2 points. Correct predictions for errors will get 1 point. If you get a perfect line score, you will also get 2 bonus points.

Bonus - This will be a bit different for Spring Training. Basically, I'm giving you some freedom to make predictions. All correct predictions for Spring Training will get 2 points. Note that I will not accept any predictions that are too easy. However, predictions that would not qualify for the regular season may qualify for Spring Training only. For the first set of games, I'll be very liberal with this. It will tighten up as Spring Training goes on.

The MVP prediction, extra prediction, and sausage race prediction will return for the regular season.

For those of you who are new, here are the rules.

  • Predictions must be made through the provided forms on the post for each game, and can be made any time after the forms are posted.
  • Predictions must be in by the start of the game, though I will allow a grace period of five minutes after the lock time to get them in.
  • Only one prediction set may be made by any person each day. You are allowed to update your prediction as many times as you want, but only the last version of it counts.
  • Scoring weeks run from Monday to Sunday, unless otherwise noted.

If you have any questions, post them in the comments below. Most importantly, have fun this season.
