Game Thread #-30: Brewers (2-2-1) vs. Indians (2-3-1)

Take a deep breath, everyone. Ryan Braun's hitless streak is over.
Take a deep breath, everyone. Ryan Braun's hitless streak is over.

The Brewers continue a five-game homestand today as they play the Indians this afternoon.

Starting for the Brewers today is Randy Wolf (3.69 ERA, 4.29 FIP in 2011). Wolf is entering the last year of his 3-year deal and is expected to take the #3 spot in the Brewers rotation this season. He bounced back last year after an unimpressive 2010 season, highlighted by a solid performance in Game 4 of the 2011 NLCS. He has made one start this spring, pitching two innings and allowing no hits while striking out one.

Opposing for the Indians is Derek Lowe (5.05 ERA, 3.70 FIP in 2011). He was acquired by the Indians in a trade after last season from Atlanta, and is in the last year of a 4-year deal. He struggled with the Braves last season, but his FIP suggests that he may have been a little unlucky. Despite his age, he has stayed relatively healthy over his career, making at least 32 starts over the last 10 seasons. In his one spring appearance, he gave up one hit and struck out one in two innings.

Here is today's lineup, courtesy of Tyler Barnes:

Carlos Gomez CF
Nyjer Morgan RF
Ryan Braun LF
Travis Ishikawa DH
Mat Gamel 1B
Brooks Conrad 2B
Jonathan Lucroy C
Zealous Wheeler 3B
Cesar Izturis SS
Randy Wolf LHP

For Wolf's second straight start this spring, Wolf and Lucroy are starting in the same game. Hopefully this is a good sign that any problems between the two of them are being worked out.

Today's game will be broadcast on a free webcast on Brewers.com. There is no radio or TV coverage today.
