Monday's Minor League Open Thread: Michael Fiers, Tyler Thornburg And Jimmy Nelson In Action

The Brewers are off tonight, but there's still baseball being played in the minors and a couple of opportunities for you to listen to games involving two top pitching prospects. Here's tonight's schedule:

  • Michael Fiers will be on the mound at 7:05 when Nashville hosts New Orleans (a Marlins affiliate). The Zephyrs are currently tied for first place in the PCL American Southern Division. The Sounds are four games back of Omaha in the PCL American North.
  • Tyler Thornburg gets the ball tonight in Huntsville's second home game of 2012 as they take on Tennessee (a Cubs affiliate) at 6:43. The Stars are currently tied for last in the Southern League North Division at 5-6, but only two games back of first place Jackson.
  • Brevard County has lost three of four games but will get a chance to reverse that streak when Jimmy Nelson takes the mound against Lakeland (Tigers) at 5:35. They're currently two games back of Dunedin in the FSL North.

The Brewerfan.net Link Report has links to live audio from Nashville and Huntsville's games. We'll have to settle for being there in spirit for the Manatees' game, as they don't have audio coverage.

Wisconsin was scheduled to play Burlington tonight, but their game has been postponed due to inclement weather. I talked to Timber Rattlers Assistant GM Aaron Hahn earlier today about the rainout and the procedures in place to decide when to play or not play a game.

Enjoy the games!
