Despite the unexpectedly suspenseful finish, Shaun Marcum was tonight's big story. Despite an abbreviated spring training and a 90-pitch limit, Marcum pitched six solid innings and allowed three runs on five hits, walking none and striking out six.

The quality start tonight was the 21st of Marcum's Brewer career. That ties him with Ruben Quevedo for the 13th most in the Miller Park era, and leaves him one ahead of Zack Greinke. Greinke picked up his 20th Brewer quality start on Saturday. Both still have a long way to go to catch Ben Sheets, who had 135. Yovani Gallardo is the active leader with 76.

Marcum also did his part at the plate tonight, driving home the Brewers' third run with a squeeze bunt in the fourth inning. The run he drove home was the seventh of his Brewer career, moving him into a tie for 13th place among Brewer pitchers all time. Four of those RBI came in the same game last July 4, when he hit a grand slam.
