Series Preview #15: Looking Back At Brewer Wins Against The Giants In 2011

While the rest of us are still abuzz over Jonathan Lucroy's big day yesterday, the Giants have arrived in town and are getting ready for their first and only series at Miller Park in 2012. We've already talked to McCovey Chronicles once this season, so it's time to look at our favorite Brewers/Giants moments from 2011.

The Brewers and Giants split six games last season, so we'll be looking at all three Brewer wins.

1) Jonathan Lucroy's walkoff squeeze bunt on May 28

The Brewers blew a 2-0 lead in the eighth inning of this game when Kameron Loe allowed a pair of unearned runs, but bounced back to win it in the ninth. Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder singled to lead off the inning with the game tied, and advanced to third on Casey McGehee's groundout. Guillermo Mota walked Yuniesky Betancourt intentionally, setting up this play:

That game also featured Carlos Gomez's inside-the-park home run.

2) Yovani Gallardo and LaTroy Hawkins combine for a shutout on May 29

The Brewers won again the next day, although in less dramatic fashion. This time Yovani Gallardo pitched eight shutout innings and allowed just four hits and a walk before LaTroy Hawkins pitched a scoreless ninth to complete a 6-0 shutout victory.

3) John Axford closes the door on a 4-2 win on July 22

The Brewers took an early lead on this day and held onto it, handing the ball to John Axford in the ninth to protect a two run lead.
