News and Notes:
- Dale Sveum will not be in the dugout for today's game against the Astros. Instead, Sveum will attend his son's high school graduation in Arizona. With the Cubs' performance of late I'd want to get out for a little R and R as well.
- In other Cubs news the club has placed catcher Wellington Castillo on the 15-day disabled list. Castillo has a sprained MCL in his right knee. The move is retroactive to Saturday.
- The Pirates have traded Drew Sutton to the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named. Did Sutton even have time to unpack his suitcase?
- Astros outfielder Jordan Schafer returned to the lineup yesterday after missing time due to a lower leg muscle strain.
- Cardinals' third baseman Matt Carpenter was forced to leave yesterday night's game in the first inning due to right side tightness. In other injury news, right-hander Kyle McClellan will not need surgery on his injured pitching elbow.
- MLB Trade Rumors should do this more often. It makes my job a whole lot easier.
