- The Cubs and Reds will make up their rained out 1 May game as part of a double-header on 18 August.
- Cubs third baseman was scratched from yesterday's lineup due to soreness in his left wrist.
- I don't know how much fun Jay Bruce can have in the midst of a 1-for-31 slump.
- Injured Reds third baseman Scott Rolen still isn't close to a return. Rolen hasn't even resumed baseball activities.
- The Pirates have designated outfielder Nate McLouth for assignment and have recalled 1B/3B Matt Hague from Triple-A Indianapolis.
- Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman had surgery to repair his torn ACL yesterday and will be out for 8-10 weeks. Berkman, who earlier made vague hints at retirement, put the kibosh on that talk and vowed to return.
