Stat of the Night: .934

The mask makes me think of how Jurassic Park pictured the Dilophosaurus. Fun fact: There is no evidence to support that Dilophosaurus had the retractable neck frill that was depicted in the film.

Question: Outside of left field, a position that features Ryan Braun, which position has been the best hitting for the Brewers in 2012?

Answer: Catcher, where Jonathan Lucroy and George Kottaras have combined for a .934 OPS. That's better than right field (.848 OPS), third base (.611 OPS) and second base (.646 OPS), which feature Corey Hart, Aramis Ramirez, and Rickie Weeks, respectively.

Before today, Lucroy had hit .313/.375/.500 while appearing in 20 games as a catcher while Kottaras has hit .300/.500/.600 in eight appearances as a catcher. Brewers catchers have the best batting average and on base percentage of any position, while they are second in slugging. Left field holds the slight OPS lead by just 17 points.

Though George Kottaras pinch-hit in Sunday's game against the Giants, that at-bat won't count towards catcher stats. Jonathan Lucroy's 1-5 day will count and will bring these statistics down slightly.

Still, it's impressive how good Brewers catchers have been at the plate so far this season. They are a bright spot in a season that, so far, could use one.
