The Brewers surprised us all by going 5-2 on the west coast this week, and they've given us several very good Brewer of the Week nominees:
John Axford recorded saves on three consecutive days this week, working four scoreless innings and allowing two hits and two walks while striking out five over four appearances. He was worth +.424 WPA this week.
Yovani Gallardo was the winning pitcher in two games this week, combining to allow four runs on 13 hits over 13.1 innings, walking six and striking out 13. He posted a 2.70 ERA this week and was worth +.279 WPA
Carlos Gomez only started two games this week but still had six hits, including a four hit game on Wednesday and a late-inning homer on Thursday. He hit .429/.467/.766 in 15 PAs and was worth +.048 WPA.
Shaun Marcum threw a career-high 119 pitches and held the Dodgers to a run on six hits over seven innings on Monday, walking two while striking out a season-high nine. He was worth +.276 WPA this week.
Aramis Ramirez missed two games this week but still had seven hits in the other five, including a double and two home runs. He hit .368/.455/.737 and was worth +.338 WPA.
