News and Notes:
- The Cardinals became the victim of the first no-hitter in Mets history as Johan Santana completely shut down the Cards' bats.
- Pittsburgh, currently a game above .500, are likely to approach this year's trade deadline much like last year: looking to add talent rather than offload it.
- The Pirates have placed Charlie Morton on the 15-day disabled list. Reliever Juan Cruz was activated from the restricted list to replace Morton on the 25-man roster.
- In a pair of roster moves the Chicago Cubs have claimed Jairo Asencio off waivers from the Cleveland Indians and have also designated reliever Michael Bowden for assignment.
- With draft day nearly upon us the Astros are on the clock and still without a consensus about who to take with the No. 1 pick.
