Win Expectancy Graph and Star of the Game Voting
It's amazing how many mistakes you can get over when you hit four home runs.
Shaun Marcum struggled a bit tonight, but pitched well enough to win. He allowed three runs on six hits and three walks over just 5.2 innings, striking out six and throwing 115 pitches. He walked in the second Padres run in the fourth inning, but was able to get out of the inning without further damage.
Meanwhile, Corey Hart led off the game with a home run tonight and Martin Maldonado provided the big blow, a three-run shot in the fourth inning to give the Brewers the lead for good. Hart later added a second solo homer in the fifth, and now has 13 multi-homer games in his career. This was his first one as a first baseman.
Two Brewer batters were hit by pitches again tonight, Corey Hart and Aramis Ramirez. Hart was on base for times with the aforementioned HBP and his three hits.
The two teams will continue this series tomorrow at 3:05, with Michael Fiers starting against Andrew Cashner.
