A great performance by Mike Fiers was ruined by a complete lack of run support. Mark Buehrle was quite good today, matching Fiers in every inning, striking out 8 to Fiers' 9; but the Brewers had no success against his successors. Ryan Braun hit into 3 double plays today including one in the 9th that erased Norichika Aoki on the basepaths after he had reached by getting hit by Randy Choate. Aramis Ramirez hit a single after that off Heath Bell but the damage was already done. At least Aoki extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Fiers left in the 8th inning with runners on 1st and 3rd, relieved by Manny Parra. Parra and his defense let an inherited runner score on a potential double play that Rickie Weeks was unable to turn. It was Jose Veras who gave up the 2-run home run to Perennial Bench Bat Greg Dobbs that padded the Marlins' lead.
