On this day in 2010 the Giants beat the Brewers 6-1 at Miller Park. It was the third contest in a five game losing streak where the Crew scored just eight total runs. The Brewers managed just four hits on this day and none of them came from Corey Hart, who went 0-for-4 to snap a 20-game hitting streak. Hart hit .360/.389/.547 over those 20 games with ten doubles and a pair of home runs.
At the time Hart's streak was the fifth longest in Brewer history, but it was only the second longest of his career:
Player | Season | Games |
Paul Molitor | 1987 | 39 |
Dave May | 1973 | 24 |
Ryan Braun* | 2011 | 23 |
Corey Hart | 2007 | 22 |
Cecil Cooper | 1980 | 22 |
Corey Hart | 2010 | 20 |
* - Streak hadn't happened yet at this point.
One day after this streak ended Hart started another nine game streak. He finished the year with a .283/.340/.525 line and 31 home runs.
With help from the B-Ref Play Index, happy birthday today to:
- 1991 Brewer Willie Randolph, who turns 58. We covered his birthday in this space last year.
- Former Brewer hitting coach Jim Skaalen, who also turns 58.
