The Brewers had 12 hits tonight and eleven of them came from five players: Norichika Aoki, Aramis Ramirez, Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks each had two hits while Martin Maldonado had three. It's only the fifth time all season the Brewers have had at least five players collect multiple hits, and the first time they've scored less than ten runs in the game:
Date | Opponent | Multi-hit games | Result |
July 3 | Marlins | 6 | W, 13-12 (10 innings) |
August 1 | Astros | 5 | W, 13-4 |
June 30 | Diamondbacks | 5 | W, 10-2 |
May 20 | Twins | 5 | W, 16-4 |
Tonight | Reds | 5 | W, 6-3 |
Zack Greinke was one of the five players with multiple hits on May 20.
Martin Maldonado had the biggest night of the five multi-hit Brewers tonight, as all three of his hits went for extra bases. He's only the second Brewer to have a home run and two doubles in a game this season, joining Ryan Braun on July 25. Rickie Weeks (on June 15 against the Cubs) was the only player to match that feat in 2011.
