Today In Brewer History: Coming Roaring Back

On this day one year ago the Brewers took a 1-0 lead over the Reds in the first inning, but Yovani Gallardo allowed Yonder Alonso to tie the game in the bottom of the second with a solo home run. What's notable, however, is what happened after that.

The Brewers plated a run in the fourth on a Yuniesky Betancourt home run, another in the sixth on a Yuni RBI single, three more in the seventh and four in the eighth. Their nine unanswered runs overall gave them a 10-1 victory.

The late offensive explosion overshadowed an impressive performance from Yovani Gallardo, who struck out 13 of the 18 Reds he retired while allowing just two hits over six innings. At the time his 13 K's were a career high, although he passed that mark with a 14 strikeout performance on July 15 of this year.
