The Brewers managed just five hits tonight and none of them belonged to Jonathan Lucroy, whose ten game hitting streak was snapped.
A ten game hitting streak may not seem that long (and in the grand scheme it's not), but Lucroy was just three games away from tying a franchise record for the longest streak by a catcher:
Player | Season | Games |
Keith Osik | 2003 | 13 |
Eddie Perez | 2003 | 13 |
Bill Schroeder | 1987 | 12 |
Darrell Porter | 1975 | 12 |
B.J. Surhoff | 1989 | 11 |
Ellie Rodriguez | 1972 | 11 |
Lucroy and seven others | 10 |
Osik appeared in just 80 games in 2003, his lone season as a Brewer. His 14 hits during this streak represent nearly 25% of his Milwaukee career total. His streak started one day before Perez's ended, and 2003 was also Perez's only season in Milwaukee.
Lucroy now has three ten game hit streaks in his career, but has never reached eleven. Ted Simmons reached exactly ten games on four different occasions as a Brewer.
