Here's the roundup of results from yesterday:

  • Milwaukee kept their hopes for a playoff spot alive. They put up eight runs in the first four innings against Houston, led by two home runs from Corey Hart. Backed up by eight shutout innings from Marco Estrada, not even Livan Hernandez could blow this one as the Brewers won 9-5. Noah has the recap if you missed it. (Box Score)
  • Atlanta kept their hopes for a division title alive. Mike Minor pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings, and they got single runs in the first and fifth innings to get a 2-0 win. (Box Score)
  • Washington took an early 4-0 lead over St. Louis, but the Cardinals rallied with three runs in the seventh and one run in the ninth to tie the game and send it into extra innings. However, a Kurt Suzuki double in the tenth gave the Nationals a 6-4 lead, and they would hold on to win by that margin. (Box Score)
  • In Los Angeles, Matt Kemp continued to be the MVP that the Dodgers need, hitting two solo home runs to account for most of their offense against Colorado. With six shutout innings from Joe Blanton and three perfect innings from the bullpen, the Dodgers got a big 3-0 win to gain ground in the Wild Card race. (Box Score)

Here's the updated Wild Card standings:

W L GB Last 10 Streak Elimination #
Atlanta 92 66 - 7-3 W1 -
St. Louis 85 73 - 7-3 L1 -
LA Dodgers 83 75 2 7-3 W4 3
Milwaukee 81 77 4 5-5 W1 1

Milwaukee stayed alive for a Wild Card spot thanks to a win and loss by St. Louis. At some point, the Brewers are also going to need some cooperation from Los Angeles as well, as they need to lose at least two of their next four to have a chance.

The chances are still incredibly low, but it's not impossible yet. Here are the updated playoff odds from CoolStandings.com:

Yesterday (9/28) 0.1%
One Week Ago (9/22) 17.3%
