For those of you not watching Monday Night Football, the Red Sox and Cardinals play Game 5 of the 2013 World Series tonight. Jon Lester takes on Adam Wainwright at 7:30 in St. Louis, and the series is tied 2-2.
Tonight's Red Sox Fun Fact: David Ortiz has five home runs this postseason. Pablo Sandoval led all MLB players with six homers in the playoffs last year, and Nelson Cruz hit eight (!) in 2011. Ortiz's 12 RBI are also tied for the 44th most ever in a postseason.
There is no such thing as a Cardinals fun fact, so this is just a fact: Carlos Beltran has 14 RBI in the playoffs, the most since Cardinals teammate David Freese had 21 (!) in 2011. Tonight is also Adam Wainwright's 18th postseason appearance as a pitcher, which will tie him for 73rd all time. His 60.2 postseason innings are the 58th most in MLB history.
The game is on FOX, who missed the final out in last night's game because they were getting crowd shots.
