Yesterday was one of the most exciting and longest days of the postseason. Today won't be as long, but it could be as exciting.
The fun starts in Detroit at 4 when Doug Fister takes the mound for the Tigers against Dan Straily and the A's. Fister, who has a 3.29 ERA in 70 appearances since joining the Tigers in 2011, just might be the best #4 starter in all of baseball. He'll face an A's team that leads this series 2-1 despite having scored just nine runs in three games. Six of those runs came last night.
At 7:30 we'll turn our attention to St. Petersburg, where the Rays will be looking to fight off elimination for the fourth time in eight days with Jeremy Hellickson on the mound. Hellickson had a 3.06 career ERA in 3 MLB seasons before posting a 5.17 mark in 2013, and hasn't started a game since September 27. He'll face Jake Peavy, who is pitching in the postseason for the first time since appearing in the 2006 NLDS as a Padre.
Both games will be on TBS, with overflow coverage on TNT. Enjoy the games!
