Dave Clark isn't a Brewer after all

His tenure in the organization is over before it began.

Bob Levey

Yesterday we learned that the Brewers were finalizing the hiring of former Astros first base coach and longtime minor league manager Dave Clark as the new manager for AA Huntsville. As it turns out, Clark wasn't a member of the Brewers organization for very long.

Clark has now accepted an offer to become the Tigers third base coach, according to Adam McCalvy. He'll join new manager Brad Ausmus' staff in Detroit, where he'll get to work with Prince Fielder and a team that has reached the ALCS in each of the last three seasons.

That leaves the position at Huntsville open once again. It was vacated when 2013 manager Darnell Coles was promoted to Nashville. The favorite to take the job may be 2013 Brevard County manager Joe Ayrault, but that's just speculation on my part. Wisconsin manager Matt Erickson has already announced he's planning on sticking with the Timber Rattlers for next season.
