Today In Brewer History: Happy Birthday, Ken Henderson

The #5 overall pick in the 1991 draft turns 40 today.

On this day in 1973 James Kenley Henderson (he went by Ken) was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was going to high school when the Brewers selected him fifth overall in the 1991 draft, passing up on guys like Manny Ramirez, Shawn Green and Aaron Sele. He didn't sign, and perhaps that was for the best.

Henderson also didn't sign with the Expos when they drafted him in 1994 before finally settling down with the Padres in 1995. He pitched just three seasons in San Diego's organization and never appeared in more than eleven games in a season, pitched more than 44.1 innings or appeared in a game above High-A ball. At age 24 he was done with baseball.
