The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Todd Rosiak is reporting that the Brewers have optioned RHP Mike Fiers to AAA Nashville. No corresponding move has been announced yet, but it is widely speculated that Hiram Burgos, currently pitching for Nashville, will be called up to start on Saturday.

Fiers owns an 8.59 ERA in 2013 over one start and two relief appearances. He last pitched on April 16, when he gave up a run over 1.1 innings. Fiers had complied 7.1 innings for the Brewers this season and struck out a single batter. He has also walked two.

Fiers was widely expected to find a place in the rotation this season, but faltered in spring training. Last season, he went 9-10 with a 3.74 ERA over 127.2 innings, striking out 135 batters.

UPDATE: As Morineko has posted, Hiram Burgos has already been summoned. That was quick.
