The Brewers may have started their road trip with a pair of wins in San Diego, but they're back down to 2-2 on the coast and 11-10 on the season after missing an opportunity to steal a win from the Dodgers tonight.
The Brewers fell behind 2-0 early, but battled back to take a 3-2 lead on solo home runs from Ryan Braun and Yuniesky Betancourt and an RBI single for Jean Segura. The Dodgers tied the game in the fifth on Adrian Gonzalez's RBI double, but the Brewers retook the advantage in the seventh when Norichika Aoki's single to center got by Matt Kemp, allowing Alex Gonzalez to score. Unfortunately, the Brewer bullpen couldn't hold that lead as Michael Gonzalez and Burke Badenhop each allowed a run in the seventh and the Dodgers retook the lead for good. Brandon Kintzler allowed two more tallies in the eighth.
Despite some early struggles Hiram Burgos pitched his first major league quality start tonight, allowing three runs on just four hits over six innings with two walks and three strikeouts. He only threw 89 pitches tonight but was lifted early again when his spot came up in the batting order.
This series continues tomorrow when Wily Peralta takes on Stephen Fife at 8:10.
