The Brewers are half a game away from the top of the mountain. Here's an update on what's going on in the division.

Here are yesterday's results from around the division:

  • The Cardinals protected a slim divisional lead by hanging on for a 2-1 win against the Reds. Matt Holliday's homer drove in both Cardinal runs, and Jaime Garcia pitched eight innings for the victory.
  • The Padres scored runs in seven different innings last night en route to a 13-7 stomping of the Cubs. Carlos Quentin, Yonder Alonso and Nick Hundley each had three hits in the game, and all three players homered.
  • The Brewers, of course, beat the Pirates 12-8 to extend their Miller Park winning streak to eight games.

The May 1 standings are about as close as they can be:
