Following yesterday's game the Brewers announced half of a roster move, returning Khris Davis to AAA Nashville after giving him just nine plate appearances in their last 21 games. Davis was 2-for-8 with a double and a HBP for a .250/.333/.375 line over that time, but everyone seems to be in agreement that he'd be better off getting regular at bats in the minors.

Meanwhile, this morning they announced the other half of that move, reinstating Jeff Bianchi from the DL. Bianchi opened the season on the shelf with hip bursitis but had played in ten games for Nashville on a rehab assignment and was hitting .244/.279/.390. The Brewers were only a couple of days away from a mandatory end to his rehab.

Having Bianchi on the roster certainly gives the Brewers some fascinating depth. Jean Segura, Alex Gonzalez, Josh Prince, and Bianchi are all on the roster now and can all play shortstop. Yuniesky Betancourt is also on the roster and has spent time at short, although his ability to actually play the position is debatable.

This is the first time Davis has been optioned to the minors, so he could still be sent down in 2014 and 2015 if needed.
