Today In Brewer History: Lucroy 7, Twins 4

The Brewer catcher drove in seven of his team's 16 runs a year ago today.

Benny Sieu-US PRESSWIRE

On this day one year ago the Brewers ran away with an easy win against the Twins at Miller Park, scoring eight runs in the first two innings of what would eventually become a 16-4 victory. The Crew's second run scored on Jonathan Lucroy's solo home run in the first and set the stage for a big day.

On top of his homer in the first, Lucroy also drove in two more runs with a single in the second. Then, with the game well out of hand in the seventh, Luc hit a grand slam to push the lead to 16-1 and tied a franchise record with seven RBI in the game. He later tied the mark again in August, becoming the first Brewer ever to reach that point twice.

The 16 runs the Brewers scored in this game were a season-high. They've only had more than ten runs once in 2013 (against the Pirates on April 30).

With help from Brewerfan.net, happy birthday today to Huntsville Star Ariel Pena. He turns 24.

Today is also the second anniversary of the Brewers' 14 inning win over the Rockies in 2011, which we covered in this space last year. Two years ago we covered four varied and sundry other anniversaries.
