This might have been the closest anyone has watched Brewer BP this season.
Ryan Braun took batting practice with the team today, reported no setbacks and will rejoin the active roster for tonight's game. Braun hasn't appeared in a game since June 9, when he struck out in his lone at bat before finally going on the DL with a sore thumb that's been bothering him for much of the season. He's hitting .304/.380/.509 in 57 games this season, but that number is dragged down by a 27-game stretch where he slugged just .406 with one home run.
The corresponding roster move is also interesting, as Aramis Ramirez is back on the DL with his sore knee. Ramirez left Saturday's game early and was held out of the lineup yesterday, but is still out of the lineup tonight. When he's eligible to return he'll have appeared in just 54 of the Brewers' 97 games this season.
Ramirez will now miss the Reds, Diamondbacks and Marlins series before being eligible to return against the Padres on July 22. The All Star break is in the middle of that stretch.
