First, the good stuff: The Brewers scored 7 runs tonight. Even without Lucroy's walkoff home run in the 9th, they still scored 5 runs. That's an improvement. They got something done against Aroldis Chapman, who only faced two batters in the 9th and gave up hits to each. The bats chased Mike Leake from the game after 5 innings in one of his worst performances in terms of baserunners allowed in 2013. Every starter not a pitcher or Nori Aoki reached base tonight. Donovan Hand pitched almost two innings of relief and did not give up a home run. Unfortunately he got sent to Nashville after the game due to Gallardo being activated, but we can't have everything. (Or I just can't have everything...)

The bad stuff unfortunately needs to be discussed. There was yet more TOOTBLAN action in the 5th when Khris Davis missed that Lucroy had been given a stop sign and proceeded to an occupied third base. Rob Wooten gave up his first major league run. Tom Gorzelanny gave up a lot of them. This was not his worst nor his shortest start of 2013, but it was his shortest non-injury-shortened start since his first emergency start on June 8.

The Brewers play the 3rd game of this 4-game series tomorrow at 6:10. Mat Latos will pitch for the Reds and Yovani Gallardo will pitch for the Brewers.
