Maybe I was wrong about wanting to shut down Gallardo for the season.

Gallardo has made four starts since coming off the DL in August. All four starts have been very good. Sunday was his best yet, and one of his best starts of the season.

He went seven innings, allowing just three hits to the Cubs. He walked one batter, but struck out six. The only run against him came in the fifth inning, when Junior Lake hit a home run. That was almost enough for the Cubs to win, though, as Scott Baker matched Gallardo pitch-for-pitch.

The Brewers didn't put a run on the board until the seventh inning. They made that inning count, scoring all three of their runs on the day. Jeff Bianchi singled home the first two runs while Gallardo himself brought home the third and final run with a single of his own.

The Brewers move on to a series with the Cardinals next. Know what I said about preferring the losses yesterday? Yeah, forget that for the next three days.
