Brewers thank fans in advertisement in Journal Sentinel

Thanks for the thanks, Brewers!

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Brewers took out a full page ad in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel today to thank you, the fans, for your support in what turned out to be a bitch of a season.

Here is what each individual player says in that ad. At least, as best as I can figure out:

"Thanks guys!" - Will (not a Word)Smith

"Thanks for packing the yard all season!" - Mark Reynolds

"Thanks for all the support. See you next season!" - Yovani Gallardo

It should be noted that Gallardo has impeccable handwriting in his signature. Even his manuscript is on point. Somebody worked hard in his early school years.

"Gracias mi gente bella pre todo su apoyo" - Francisco Rodriguez

Translated, that's 'Thank you, my beautiful people, for all your support'.

"Thank you for your support, encouragement, enthusiasm and passion." - ???

"Thank you Brewers fans! See you next spring!" - Kyle Lohse

"Thank you for all your support throughout the year!" - Martin Maldonado

"Gracias por todo tu soporte y tu energia dios de bendiga!" - Gerardo Parra

Translated as 'Thank you for all your support and energy, god bless!'. Mostly, I'm a little worried about parra using the more friendly 'tu' form of you rather than 'usted'. I've barely known you half a season, Gerardo. I'm not sure I'm ready for this. Oh what the hell, tu estas maravilloso.

"Thanks for all the care and support you've given us this year. Hope to see you again next year." - Jeremy Jeffress

"Muchas gracias por todo su apoyo!" - Aramis Ramirez

Translation: 'Many thanks for all your support'.

"Thank you for being the best fans in sports! See ya next year!" - ???

I'm genuinely not sure whose signature this is, but it's the most delightfully interesting of them all.

It looks like it starts with a 'y', but the only person on the team who would have signed this whose name starts with y is Gallardo, and he's already up there. So, beats me.

"Brewers fans, thank you for the best support in baseball!' - Jonathan Lucroy

"Thanks for your support and cheers all year long!" - Rickie Weeks

Miss ya already buddy!

"At home or on the road, it's great seeing you in the stands supporting us!" - Brandon Kintzler

"Gracias por su apoyo!" - Carlos Gomez

The always quiet and understated Gomez simply said 'Thanks for your support'.

"Thanks for the never-ending support!" - ???

Sig_medium

Beats me.

"Thank you for supporting me, as well as my teammates through this year. You have helped me with my success on and off the field." - Mike Fiers (I think)

"We're lucky to play for the greatest fans in the world!" - Khris Davis

And we're lucky to have the greatest left fielder in the world <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

"Thank you for creating an awesome atmosphere night in and night out for us to play in." - Rob Wooten

"Gracia" - ???

I don't know who this is. The signature looks like Ch__ P___. I can't think of anyone who fits that. Either way, this is the least-effort put into their thank you. It's the thought that counts and all, but at least give me an exclamation point.

"Taiwanese (presumably) lettering" - Wei-Chung Wang (presumably)

"Thanks for making Miller Park such an amazing place to play" - Tom Gorzelanny

"To the best fans in the game, thanks for all the 'o's" - Lyle Overbay

"Your energy and passion keep us going." - Marco Estrada

"Nos vemos la protima temporada" - Jean Segura

Translation: 'We'll see you next season'. Segura has had, objectively, the worst year of any Brewers player for multiple reasons. Here's hoping next year is a little brighter for him.

"Muchas gracias" - Elian Herrera

"Thank you for all the support" - Jimmy Nelson

"Thanks Brewers fans for everything! See you next year!" - Jonathan Broxton

"I appreciate the true fans in Milwaukee who understand and endure with us through the long season. We couldn't do it without you!" - Logan Schafer (I think)

What a way to end it. Calling out the true fans -- none of those bandwagoners! Logan Schafer (I think) won't have any of them! Also, the word choice 'endure' seems a little negative. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Anyway, noticeable absent are Ryan Braun, Scooter Gennett, Matt Garza, Zach Duke, and Wily Peralta. Though there were a few who I couldn't recognize the signatures of which are surely some of those players.

Since so many of the Brewers took the time to thank us, the fans, I'd like to reciprocate, so here goes:

What a long strange trip it has been! We sure have come a long way since April. First period was great with you, but the last class of the day sure did stink! Stay in touch! Have a great winter vacation! Don't ever change!

Well...maybe change a little.
