The Milwaukee chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America announced their postseason award winners for the Brewers today. The voting was done by seven writers, with a first place vote receiving 5 points, second place receving 3, and third place receiving 1. Jonathan Lucroy received two of the awards, taking home top honors as the Brewers Most Valuable Player, as well as the Good Guy award for the second straight year. Wily Peralta earned top honors as well with the Most Valuable Pitcher award. Also, Zach Duke received two awards as well, taking the Top Newcomer and Unsung Hero awards.

Jonathan Lucroy was an easy choice for team MVP after his stellar season. He posted a .301/.373/.465 batting line with 13 HR, 69 RBI, 73 R, and a wRC+ of 133 on the season, which was good for an fWAR of 6.5. He led the team in games played this year, as well as all catchers in MLB. His 53 doubles this year set a MLB record for doubles as a catcher and tied the Brewers record held by Lyle Overbay. He also received the Good Guy award for the Brewers for the second straight year, beating Kyle Lohse for the honors. He should receive some consideration for NL MVP as well this season, though will probably not win it.

Wily Peralta took home the Most Valuable Pitcher award after his great season. He led the Brewers with 198.2 IP in 32 GS (22 of those quality starts), 17 wins, and 154 strikeouts. He posted a 3.53 ERA, 4.11 FIP, and a fWAR of 1.5 during the course of the season. It was a strong improvement from last year, when he posted a 4.37 ERA and 4.30 FIP.

Zach Duke took the other two awards for the Brewers in closer votes, receiving the Top Newcomer and Unsung Hero awards. After making the roster as a non-roster invitee in spring training, he went from one of the last relievers in the bullpen to one of the most trusted. In 74 relief appearances across 58.2 innings, he posted a 2.45 ERA and 2.14 FIP with 74 strikeouts. He is a free agent this offseason, but the Brewers could try to re-sign him for 2015.
