The rarity of star position player teammates

In 2014, Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy accomplished something pretty rare in the past 7 years.

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Here is a list of position player teammates who were both in the top 15 in Fangraphs WAR in a given season since 2008. It does not really mean anything. It's also not a list of the two best position player teammates, because that would basically be Mike Trout or Andrew McCutchen and their best teammate.

What this does show is that it is quite rare to have two really good position teammates on the same team at the same time. And the Brewers show up on it a couple of times. Cool!
