Apologies for today's late recap: I was waiting for all of this game's home run balls to land.
The Brewers went deep five times today in a 9-7 win over one of Arizona's best teams, getting four solo shots and a two-run blast to account for the majority of their offense. Wily Peralta actually had the big blow, a two-run blast in the sixth that capped off a four-run inning.
The homer helped Peralta overcome a somewhat iffy day on the mound. He allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings, raising his spring ERA to 5.21. He was followed to the mound by Will Smith, who also allowed multiple runs, and Rob Wooten and Alfredo Figaro, who each worked scoreless innings.
Getting back to the offense, six of the Brewers' eleven hits today were for extra bases. Mark Reynolds, who hit his first home run of the spring yesterday, went 2-for-3 with a double and his second home run today. Juan Francisco, playing third base, reached base safely four times with a home run and three walks.
The Brewers have now won back-to-back games for the third time this spring, but still have yet to extend a winning streak to three consecutive games. They'll get another chance tomorrow when they visit the Rockies at 3:10 Central time. Wei-Chung Wang is expected to start a bullpen game for the Crew, facing Juan Nicasio.
