Today's Lineups

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS MILWAUKEE BREWERS
Matt Carpenter - 3B Carlos Gomez - CF
Allen Craig - RF Jean Segura - SS
Matt Holliday - LF Ryan Braun - RF
Matt Adams - 1B Aramis Ramirez - 3B
Yadier Molina - C Jonathan Lucroy - C
Jhonny Peralta - SS Khris Davis - LF
Mark Ellis - 2B Mark Reynolds - 1B
Peter Bourjos - CF Scooter Gennett - 2B
Shelby Miller - RHP Marco Estrada - RHP

After scoring a whopping zero runs in the opener of the Cardnals' series, the Brewers are throwing out all the big guns tonight. That means that Khris Davis is back in the lineup after a couple of games off. Mark Reynolds and Scooter Gennett are also starting as the Brewers take on the right-handed Shelby Miller.

Gennett usually starts against right-handers, but the Brewers like having Lyle Overbay as their left-hander in these situations. Ron Roenicke has been bucking the trend of a strict first base platoon, however, and Reynolds has gotten frequent starts against righties as he is again today. It makes sense: Reynolds is the hot hand with an 882 OPS to Overbay's 450 OPS.

Shelby Miller hasn't been nearly as tough to face this season as he was over the first 2/3 of 2013. In two starts, he has a 6.35 ERA and 1.676 WHIP. The Brewers haven't had the best luck against St. Louis recently, but they should make a good go of it tonight.
