The Brewers have managed to score one run on six hits over the first two games of this series, so it's only natural that they bench their best hitter for game three. Of course, the Brewers certainly would have good reason for it. Despite a three-home run game against the Phillies, Ryan Braun's thumb is still certainly bothering him. He's had just two hits in his last three games with four strikeouts.
Oh well! Getting Braun rest is certainly the right call for the good of the season. We'll just have to deal with Logan Schafer's bat in the lineup. At least he's a nice defensive outfielder!
Also of note: Jonathan Lucroy is catching Wily Peralta for the second consecutive time. Looks like the team is pretty serious about not locking into starting Martin Maldonado every time Peralta pitches. Then again, having Schafer and Maldonado both in the lineup at the same time would be unnerving. Throw in Jeff Bianchi and we'd really have a party going.
