It's a good day for the Brewers and for us! Not long after the Brewers signed Monte Harrison, they also signed their second overall pick, shortstop Jacob Gatewood. It's being reported they signed him for $1.83 million which is slightly more than what Harrison signed for. The slot value for Gatewood was $1,384,900. It was expected that it would take overslot to sign Gatewood and this is not an extreme overslot bonus.
Again, this is a big coup for the Brewers. With Kodi Medeiros expected to sign for underslot and 4 college seniors (and 1 4th year college junior) drafted in the first 10 rounds, the Brewers should find themselves with a solid amount of money to play around with when trying to sign some of the hard to sign guys in the later rounds.
