I watched the movie 'Saved!" tonight with some friends. This was apparently a bad omen. With a 2-0 lead, the Brewers called upon closer Francisco Rodriguez in the ninth inning. Rodriguez, an All Star this year, entered with a 2.61 ERA and 29 saves on the season.

Unfortunately, neither of those numbers improved after tonight. Francisco couldn't even get an out before blowing the save. It started with Daniel Murphy doubling and scoring on a David Wright single to cut the lead in half. Then Lucas Duda blew right past it by launching a two-run home run to put New York on top 3-2.

This, after a great start from Yovani Gallardo, who pitched 7.2 innings of four-hit, shutout ball. Gallardo also struck out eight batters and walked none in what was one of his best starts of the season.

The Brewers and Mets will play again tomorrow. First pitch is at 6:10 CT.
