Yesterday's Results
After enduring three days of silent bats, the Brewers finally got their offense going, and it just happened to be against the Rays ace. Martin Maldonado drove in four runs with a 3-for-4 day, and the Brewers got four runs off of David Price. Meanwhile, Yovani Gallardo pitched seven innings of shutout baseball, holding the Rays to just four hits and a walk. The Rays attempted to rally in the ninth with the bases loaded, but Francisco Rodriguez shut them down for a one-out save.
The trade deadline is today, and the Brewers plans are a mystery.
We're less than 5 hours away from the trade deadline at this point, and it is anyone's guess what the Brewers will do. Different rumors have been flying around, but nothing substantial has come together yet. There were rumors that the Brewers would try to acquire Jon Lester, but those went nowhere and Lester went to Oakland this morning. David Price also came up in rumors, but he's staying in Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, the Cardinals and Cubs both acquired starting pitchers yesterday to bolster their rotations. There are still rumors that the Brewers want a bullpen arm or a bench bat, but as of right now, there's nothing definite going on. However, it doesn't take long for that to change.
