As the Brewers begin a three-game series against the division rival Cincinnati Reds, they will be without one player. Khris Davis, still recovering from a strained left shoulder, is out of the lineup for the second straight game. Logan Schafer, fresh from Nashville, will make the start for Davis and play left field tonight.
The Brewers are losing some offense with Davis out of the lineup. In his first stint with the Brewers, Logan Schafer only managed a batting line of .190/.281/.291. He had improved in Nashville, hitting .263/.382/.421 for the Sounds in 15 games. He had also reached base safely in his last five games, collecting hits in four of those and had a four-hit game as well.
Tonight's starting pitcher matchup will feature Kyle Lohse and Alfredo Simon. For the Reds, Simon has posted six consecutive quality starts and has a QS in eight of his last nine games (all wins for the Reds). While he has a 2.81 ERA for the team, his FIP is only 4.29, which indicates he might be overperforming a little. Meanwhile, Kyle Lohse has posted a quality start in three of his last four games. Traditionally, Lohse tends to perform well against the Reds. In his one previous start against them this year, he pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk.
First pitch is at 6:10 pm CT. Join us in the GameThread tonight, but only after you go and make some Prognostikeggers picks.
