Win: Alfredo Simon (11-3)
Loss: Kyle Lohse (9-3)
Save: Aroldis Chapman (17)
HR: Billy Hamilton (5), Jonathan Lucroy (9)
There have been a lot of fireworks around the country today. Unfortunately, not enough of them came from the Brewers' bats. The team picked up just six hits, with a seventh inning Jean Segura single bringing in one run and an eighth inning Jonathan Lucroy homer scoring a second.
Those two late runs were too little, too late for the Brewers, however. Kyle Lohse started off the night great, striking out the side in the bottom of the first. But he ended the night after five innings pitched having allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk. He ended the night with eight strikeouts.
The first two Cincinnati runs came in the third inning when Billy Hamilton hit a two-run shot. Hamilton now has five homers on the year with three of them coming against the Brewers. He already came into the game hitting .429/.467/.929 against Milwaukee in six games, but at least he struck out three times in addition to tonight's homer.
The Reds picked up two more runs, with one apiece in the fourth and fifth.
The Brewers and Reds will play another tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 CT tomorrow.
