2015 MVBrewers Poll #10

Will Smith was your choice for No. 9 MVB. Today we round out the series with the final vote for No. 10.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Going by advanced metrics Will Smith was the Brewers best reliever. His 2.41 FIP was the lowest among the other relievers with more than 10 innings pitched. His 34.5 K% (12.9 K/9) was also the best by a large margin. Francisco Rodriguez was next with a 28.5 K%. That's a 6% difference. Yet he was the communities first choice among relievers going 4th in the MVB series. K-Rod did have a better ERA though--2.21 vs Smith's 2.70. So apparently even in this enlightened age when we know objectively and for a fact that ERA is a team dependent stat and one of the poorer descriptors of talent, and saves are nebulously defined and largely meaningless, they still matter to be people way more than they should.

Today we open the polling for the No. 10 spot. This will be the last day of voting in the MVB series. We're not going to add anyone else because it's just starting to get depressing.
