Brewers vs Cubs: Game Thread #162

The final game of the 2015 MLB season.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Well this is it folks. This is the final game of the 2015 MLB season. Congratulations for surviving. Despite the season the Brewers have had there is importance to this game. The Brewers are currently tied with the Athletics. That means they still have a chance at receiving the fifth overall pick in next year's draft. They either have to remain tied with the A's or finish with a worse record. Either an A's win or a Brewers loss guarantees that. If the Brewers win the Athletics must win too. If the Brewers win and the A's lose the Brewers will get the 6th overall pick. They cannot get worse than that as the Marlins are too far separated.

The Cubs are playing for something too: Home field advantage in the Wild Card play-in game. The Pirates currently have a one game lead on the Cubs. They must maintain that lead to secure home field advantage. If the Pirates and the Cubs end the season with the same record the Cubs will get home field advantage. They own the tie breaker on the season.

So if you think about it a Brewers loss is in the best interest of both teams. But instead let's hope both the Brewers and the Athletics wins just for the fun of it.
