Brewers Trade Rumors: Mariners Pursuing Adam Lind

New, 32 comments

Milwaukee is aggressively working to move their 32-year-old first baseman, and the Mariners have come a-knocking

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Brewers have set their first saucepan of the 2015 Winter Meetings on the hot stove this afternoon, and while it's not necessarily a shocker, it's certainly an encouraging development:

The Brewers and Marines have been trade partners once already this off-season as part of GM David Stearns' 3-day sale last month, hooking up to swap INF Luis Sardinas for OF Ramon Flores. Adam Lind is owed just $8 million next year, which makes him an attractive option for teams seeking a plug-in at first base.

The Mariners have been linked to Lind peripherally over the past several weeks, and it seems those whispers are getting louder in Nashville today. While the Mariners certainly make sense as a potential landing place for Lind, the Journal Sentinal's Tom Haudricourt wonders if Seattle has the means to acquire him:

You'll remember that I correctly predicted this when I sent Lind to Seattle in the SB Nation Off-season Simulator in exchange for 1B Patrick Kivlehan and RHP Paul Fry. Of course, that particular package is off the table at this time, mostly because Kivlehan was the PTBNL in the Leonys Martin trade with the Rangers. If you'd like some speculation as to who Milwaukee might seek in return for Lind, go ahead and do a quick Twitter search for "D.J. Peterson".

More information on this situation as it develops.
