The regular season doesn't start for another 35 days but you don't have to wait that long to see your favorite team in action. A little over a month ago the Brewers released their spring training broadcast schedule. At the time it felt like a tease. The games were weeks and weeks away and they were still just spring training games. Well now the first televised game is just three days away and I for one couldn't care less that it's just a spring training game. It's still baseball on my TV!
The game I'm speaking of is on Thursday. It does start at 2:05 pm CT so chances are many of you will be working. My heart goes out to you. But hey, maybe your VCR can be set to auto-record. And if not, fear not. It gets better. Friday and Saturday's games will also be televised as well. They will also start at 2:05 pm. Each game will be shown on FSN Wisconsin. I know some of you with certain television providers don't get these ST games and again, my heart goes out to you.
But there's more. MLB Network runs annual spring training coverage they call "30 Clubs in 30 Days." The Brewers edition will air Wednesday night at 6:00 pm CT. So if you're able to see it all, that's 4 straight days of Brewers-centric programming on television this week.
I'm pretty jazzed. It's only spring training, I know. But it's been a long time since anything baseball has happened. One of my personal favorite things about these games is the opportunity to see some of the Brewers prospects get into game action. It's not informative or anything. It's just fun.
Real baseball is a month away but until real baseball happens, we'll have this fake baseball. And that's a hell of a lot better than no baseball.
