Brewers 6, Cubs 7: Comeback falls short

The Brewers almost made a late comeback but couldn't quite finish it.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Win: Jason Hammel (3-1)

Loss: Jimmy Nelson (1-3)

I didn't get a chance to watch much of this one outside of, I think, maybe the fifth inning? One of those innings in the middle where not as much was going on. Which means I missed the Brewers going into the ninth inning down four and coming within one of the Cubs on a three-run Ryan Braun home run. Two singles following that brought Gerardo Parra to the plate with two outs, but Parra struck out to end the game.

Khris Davis had a nice day, going 4-5 with a solo home run, a double and three RBI. Braun was also 3-3 with two walks and three runs scored. Those are definitely positive things to take away from yet another loss. It's always important to still find some positive in a season like this.

The Brewers and Cubs will go again tomorrow with first pitch at 6:10 CT.
